SIONYX was well established in the night vision space, but they were launching their first ever marine camera: Nightwave. Boating at night presents a variety of life-threatening dangers, but creating awareness for the brand in the marine space and convincing boat owners that being able to see on the water at night would require a unique approach—one involving monster sea creatures and anthropomorphic landforms.

Communicate the dangers of night boating as monster sea creatures in a surprising and fun marketing campaign.

the RESULTS

The dangers of night boating were brought to life as metaphorical mystical sea creatures. The creatures themselves were brought to life in videos and in print by special effects and animation shop Alice Blue. Through CGI Design, Character Design, Live Action, and VFX work, the "Creatures of the Night" campaign spanned across TV, OLV, digital, social, email campaigns, print advertising, and in environmental displays at trade shows.

Gunpowder's Public Relations team pushed the launch of Nightwave utilizing our deep bench of media contacts in the marine category. A launch event and happy hour at the Miami International Boat Show helped propel the launch. The purposefully designed trade show booth was meant to mimic the curves of Nightwave to tie everything together.
